<aside> 🔍 What is a piano exam?
A piano exam is a formal assessment of a student’s piano-playing skills, which usually involves performing various pieces and demonstrating technical skills such as scales and arpeggios. It might also include sight-reading and aural tests. The exam provides a structured framework for learning and progression, offering clear goals for students to strive for. It allows students to receive standardized evaluation and constructive feedback on their performance, which can help them improve their skills and techniques.

<aside> 🔍 Testing opportunities I offer
<aside> 🔍 Q. When can students begin testing? A. They can start after learning eighth notes and rests. (Completion of Music Tree Level 2A)

<aside> 🔍 Q. Does it help the student’s high school or college application? A. It may, as long as the student stays involved in these exams long enough to demonstrate an upward trajectory along the grade ladder. However, academic grades, standardized test scores (PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc.), essays, and letters of recommendation are much more valuable in the grand scheme. If the sole purpose of doing these exams is for their résumé, it may harm the learner and eventually turn them away from music.
Meanwhile, a solid background in Music Theory earned through my lessons and these exams will be advantageous in building their résumé, as they will have a breeze going through the Advanced Placement Music Theory course and exam.
