Grading criteria
1 - Mastered = “Meets expectations”
2 - Improving = “There's room for improvement, but the student has demonstrated a clear upward trend throughout the semester.”
3 - Needs More Work = “The student's performance has been consistently poor, and there has been little to no improvement, often due to factors beyond the scope of my expertise.”
- For example:
- TECHNIQUE: poor fine motor skills and lack of self-awareness, possibly due to young age or other psycho-/physiological factors, lack of practice, etc.
- MUSICIANSHIP: lack of attentive listening and attention to detail, possibly due to psycho-/physiological factors, poor attitude, lack of practice, absence of regular listening to music, etc.
- THEORY AND HARMONY: lack of understanding of the topic covered, usually due to lack of practice (poor completion rate of theory homework) or lack of attention to detail, weak information retention, weak analysis, and weak abstract thinking.
